Computer Requirements

You can install InBloom on a Mac and PC. If you have both platforms in your store, you can still share and use the same InBloom database (using InBloom Pro).

Receipt Printers

Star Micronics printers are highly recommended for low-cost, fast, and reliable thermal receipt printers. These black and white printers are PC & Mac compatible, print directLY on thermal paper with no inks necessary (like most supermarket receipts), and come in black or “putty” color enclosures. The 100, and 600 line (e.g. the 143, 613, etc) of Star printers are all compatible with InBloom.

In addition, they can also be modified to have an auto-cutter which slices receipt prints for the cashier, rather than tearing by pulling against a small blade bar. Thermal printers from other TSP models or other manufacturers should be compatible. Again, we recommend testing against an InBloom demo version.

You can install InBloom on just about any Mac or PC and then connect tag printers, barcode scanners, cash drawers, receipt printers and more.  The models listed below are officially supported

Label Printers

InBloom officially supports the DYMO LabelWriter 300, 330, 400, and 450 printers (Turbo models also) for adhesive product labels to be used as price tags. Currently, label formats #30336 (1” x 2.125”), #30330, #30323, and more are included in the InBloom label templates. You can browse the available formats in the Printer Settings tab (Main Menu > Show All > Settings > Printing Settings tab)

Document Printers – Laser or Inkjet

Just about any inkjet or laser printer can be easily connected to InBloom.  The general rule of thumb, is that if your computer can connect to it, InBloom can usually print to it.  Because of the wide number of printers and printer setups, InBloom has templates designed to suit the margins of most inkjet and laser printers.  You can use document printers for printing contracts, checks, various reports, sheets of mailing labels and more. If you plan on using or purchasing another kind of laser printer, it is recommended that the printer have a multi-purpose tray of up to 50 pages (the kind that usually fold down in front), which can be used for printing checks more easily.

We do recommend the Brother laser Printers as affordable network-ready laser printers with both two-sided printing and two paper trays included.

Cash Drawers

Currently, InBloom requires that you connect a cash drawer thru a Star Micronics thermal receipt printer.

Barcode Scanners

We recommend the Metrologic Voyager CG barcode scanner for use with InBloom; however, any barcode scanner that can be configured to add a carriage return (the equivalent of hitting the “Return” or “Enter” key on the keyboard) is usable with the InBloom Sales module. Check with your scanner’s documentation to verify that it comes with driver software that can manage this configuration setting.
