Tech Specs & Requirements For InBloom

What's included with InBloom?

Upon purchase, we deliver the full downloadable product to you via email so you can get started without delay. The downloadable version contains the InBloom product software, and electronic version of the product documentation in PDF format, and an email that contains your license key.

What's required to use InBloom?

If your business requires more than one computer, you need a separate copy of FileMaker Pro on each computer from which you wish to access FileMaker Pro files via a network (or remotely via the internet). If you need to use InBloom with more than 5 concurrent computers you will also need a copy of FileMaker Server 8. The minimum version you need of FileMaker Pro to run InBloom is version 8.5.

If you are using the InBloom Lite, you do not need any additional software.

If you don't already own copies of FileMaker Pro or you need to upgrade to a newer version (FileMaker currently has some great deals on upgrades), our advice is to call FileMaker Inc at 408.987.7000. If you need 10 or more licenses, call their free 800.725.2747 number to inquire about their volume license promotions: the savings can be significant as they have volume discounts and the occasional special offer! But don't hesitate to shop around, Amazon.com is a great starting point.

System Requirements (Based on FileMaker 8.5)

Macintosh

  • Macintosh computer with a PowerPC G3, G4, G5 processor or Intel processor
  • 256MB of RAM
  • PowerPC processor requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 (Panther) or 10.4.5 (Tiger)
(Intel processor requires Mac OS X 10.4.5)

Windows

  • Pentium III 500MHz or higher
  • 256MB of RAM
  • SVGA (800 x 600) or higher resolution video adapter and display
  • Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4), Windows XP Professional Edition (Service Pack 2)

The hardware requirements for InBloom are minimal. The lowest machine recommended is a G4 Mac like a Mac mini or an eMac on the Mac side or a 1.5 ghz PC. And at the very least, look for a computer with a 5200 rpm hard drive; 7200 rpm is ideal.

If you have multiple users, we strongly recommend that you designate a Mac or PC to do only one thing – serve your InBloom data over the network. You may already have a file server. Don't use this machine for both InBloom and your file server. Businesses with multiple point-of-sale cash registers would do well with a G5 Power Mac or Intel Mac Pro tower on the Mac side or a server-class PC. These robust machines will provide top performance for your business.
